The Rory Museum of Art

Rory is fascinated by art museums and different types of art this week. So we made one at home! We started with pointillism.
Sculpture was up next:

And last, but not least, an abstract masterpiece!

Truck Painting

We were watching Bob the Builder earlier, and one of the trucks made a painting by rolling his wheels in paint and rolling on paper...so I asked Rory if he wanted to do paintings like that. Of course he did! So here they are.

The Frog Book

Frog Book
By Rory

(He wrote that all by himself. I helped with the spelling)

I cut out the pieces, but Rory glued the frog together all by himself and wrote "Frog" at the top. Then he colored spots, just like the frog in his Metamorphosis book.

Then he jumped around like a lunatic and yelled out frog facts for me to write down. I wrote them just like he said them.

He knows a lot about frogs!

Counting Syllables

If you listen carefully, you can hear Rory counting the syllables in "kangaroo."

Syllables

Rory learned about syllables tonight and how to "clap" them. It started as a totally off hand comment from me, and turned into a 30 minute lesson!
He was trying to say "anenome," but kept adding an extra sound. And he was getting frustrated. So I said, "A-NE-NO-ME. Four syllables." The questions started immediately...what's a syllable, how do you know how many there are, how many syllables are in this and that, and the other? So we started clapping to count them out, and after the first couple of words, he had it down! He even got "helicopter," "ultimate digger truck," and "killer whale!" LOL
